Get Certified – Get Ahead

Whatever your goals may be, adding ASE certifications to your resume is a great way to advance your career. Becoming accredited by ASE can help ensure that you’re ready to work on today’s cars, trucks and SUVs.

ASE certification is a special title given out by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) to qualifying technicians. The ASE offers over 40 tests in areas such as cars and light trucks; school and transit buses; medium and heavy-duty trucks; collision repair; and truck equipment. The tests are written by a panel of automotive industry professionals to ensure that there is no bias toward any specific vehicle or manufacturer.

By testing and certifying automotive technicians, ASE works to improve the quality of service and vehicle repair. Technicians can become ASE-certified by passing an exam that focuses on the skills needed in everyday situations and by having at least two years of on-the-job experience or a two-year auto repair degree plus one year of job experience. To retain their certification, ASE-certified professionals have to pass a test every five years to ensure they are keeping up with the latest trends and technologies.

Advantages of Certification

From getting an advantage in a competitive job market to getting that coveted promotion, getting ASE certifications are an investment in your career.

Stand Out to Employers
Becoming ASE-certified in different areas is an ideal way to separate yourself from the competition when searching for a job. ASE certifications instantly tell a hiring manager that you have the qualifications to step into the repair shop and make an immediate impact.

Opens Doors
ASE certifications can help expand your career opportunities in an existing job. When you take the initiative to become accredited, you show your employer that you’re committed to the job and are worth investing in with both promotions and raises.

Helps You Stay Current
In the course of studying for an ASE exam, you’ll learn the latest techniques and advances in auto repair which will help you in the repair bay. Having this knowledge can help you work more efficiently, helping you take on more repair jobs for more billable hours.
